Travel Back to the WWII Home Front

Our classroom and ARP shed at Murton Park provide an authentic and engaging backdrop for students to explore what life was like for evacuees during World War II.

Through a series of interactive activities, students will learn about evacuation, air raid precautions, and daily life during the war.

With exclusive access to the area, your group will dive deep into history in a way that’s fully immersive, memorable, and fun.

The itinerary

After an introductory talk that sets the scene and introduces the key concepts of life on the WWII Homefront, students will spend the day engaging in a variety of hands-on activities.

Activities include:

Evacuation Process:

Interactive talk from evacuation coordinator about the process.

Gas Mask Drill:

Learn how to properly use a gas mask and understand its importance.

Air Raid Practice:

Practice what to do during an air raid and learn how to stay safe.

Incendiary Bomb Handling:

Understand how to deal with incendiary bombs and the precautions that were taken.

This full-day, immersive experience runs from 10am to 3pm.

And yes, pupils can get all dressed up too. In fact, we encourage it.
