Where school trips are not just educational – they’re unforgettable
Book Your TripForget grainy footage and textbook exercises. When we teach history through the ages, we get interactive with immersive educational days that will transport pupils into a whole new era.
Visit us at Murton Park and pick your historical adventure — from meeting the settlers at our reconstructed Viking village, to practising military drills in our Roman Fort.
Or travel back in time in the comfort of your classroom with our engaging in-school talks.
We’ve done the lesson plan, so you don’t have to:
Step into the shoes of Saxon settlers and explore the challenges and daily activities of early medieval life. Pupils will begin with a talk from the abbot or abbess about Saxon origins and societal structures. Throughout the day, they will candle dip, learn writing and illumination techniques, and defend the settlement from Viking invaders.
Step into our 1st century Roman fort and experience life as a new recruit to the Roman Army. Under the guidance of the duty Centurion and their assistant, students will engage in military drills, make oil lamps, learn about Roman writing, and discover the intricacies of Roman religion.
Explore our Viking village and imagine the life of a Viking settler. Pupils will learn about food preparation, grind flour, and play Viking board games. They will also take turns on guard duty to defend the village from potential attackers.
Experience the life of an evacuee during World War 2. Using our classroom and ARP shed, students will participate in gas mask drills, practice air raid procedures, and learn how to handle incendiary bombs.
Travel back to the Stone Age and Bronze Age in our prehistoric village. Pupils will make early types of clay pottery, grind grain to make flour, create prehistoric art, handle replica artifacts, and learn essential hunting skills.
