Santa loved his staycation at Murton Park so much last year, that he’s decided to do it again and invites you to join him.

Step this way for a magical Christmas experience in Santa’s village. Meet the big man himself in his cosy winter cabin where children will receive Santa money to spend in the Magical Toy Shop. Then take a walk through the village and be enchanted by the elves and peek inside their homes and workshops.

Of course, a Murton Park staycation is not complete without a visit to our Bakehouse up at the Derwent Valley Light Railway. Adults will have the opportunity to tuck into their complimentary mince pie and children will be given reindeer food, especially made by Mother Christmas herself to take home and put out on Christmas Eve.

All of this and so much more!

Santa’s Staycation will run on selected dates in November and December and tickets are £10* per adult and £17* per child.

*A booking fee will be charged per order. The time slot you choose, is the time that you will visit Santa. You will need to arrive 30 minutes prior to your booked slot. For full T’s & C’s and FAQs, see below.

Welcome

Step through our white gates – we’ve got it all sorted,
A Christmas surprise that cannot be thwarted,
We’re back with a bang, and better than ever,
we are all set up all safely, because we are clever.

With a map in your hand and directions around,
your journey has started, this is where Christmas is found.
Off to see Santa at your allotted time,
please don’t be late, the big man can’t wait.

What would you like leaving under your tree?
Santa’s coming, are you excited as could be?
He’ll arrive with a chortle and a grin ear to ear,
And hand out “Santa money”, the currency here.

Now you will enter the elf village here,
they are having a party with lots of Christmas cheer.
They are cheeky, funny and tell lots of jokes,
but are the jokes funny? I’m afraid not folks!

Off to the Toy Shop your next step must be,
For your very own Santa toy – gifted for free.
Will it be a game or a fluffy toy instead
something to play with or something to cuddle in bed.

Up at the station its time for a well-earned break
with a coffee, mulled wine and maybe a piece of cake.
Sit and relax, enjoy the lights and Christmas decorations,
for you have experienced Santa’s staycation.

When you are all tired out, when it’s time for you to go,
we’ll wish you “Merry Christmas” with a Ho, Ho, Ho.

To avoid disappointment, we recommend that everyone pre-books their tickets at www.murtonpark.co.uk We cannot guarantee spaces if you turn up on the day.

You can purchase a £10 adult ticket for them instead.

If you have a babe-in-arms (under the age of one) and do not want them to receive a present you do not have to pay for them. However, we do have gifts to cater for that age. We do ask that in the audience with Santa they sit on an adult’s knee.

Yes, it is £10 for an adult. As well as the experience of walking through Santa’s village, meeting the elves, having an audience with Santa and seeing the birds of prey, all adults will receive a mince pie from the Bakehouse.

The only exception to this is carers with a valid carers card, who will be charged £5 each.

Yes, it is £5 per carer with a valid carers card. Tickets must be booked in advance on www.murtonpark.co.uk

If York is under lockdown or you live in area under lockdown you will be eligible to a full refund. If you wish, you can transfer your tickets to the Christmas event next year.

The only circumstance that tickets can be refunded is if York or the area you are visiting from is under lockdown restrictions, not allowing your visit to take place or if we cannot run for any reason. If you are self isolating your tickets can be transferred to the Christmas event next year.

We expect the visit to site to last around 2 hours.

Yes, it will also be possible to purchase tasty treats, and hot and cold drinks from the Bakehouse at the Railway.

We operate in all weathers. The audience with Santa, Magic Toyshop and main building where the toilets and shop are situated are all undercover. We strongly advice winter clothing.

Yes of course, at the Bakehouse all adults will receive a free mince pie and you will be able to buy additional ones and other tasty treats if you wish.

We suggest you arrive at site around 30 minutes before your booked slot with Santa. You will be welcomed onto Santa’s village 10 minutes before your slot.

Dogs are very welcome at Murton Park throughout the year and Christmas is no different but we ask that they are kept on a lead at all times due to livestock on site. Please be aware that due to the nature of this event there will be a lot of children on site and some may be nervous of them.

Yes the toilets will open. We have a dedicated member of staff on site who will be cleaning them throughout the day.

We know little legs can get tired and are welcome in buggies everywhere except the audience with Santa, this is due to space.

We can only fit a certain number of groups into the audience with Santa. If there is space we will try to accommodate you but it may not be possible.

Large parts of this event are outdoors. The audience with Santa and Magic Toy shop are under cover but warm outdoor clothing is strongly advised.
