Why not join us for week three of the summer holidays? The theme is Home Front, with lots of activities between 5th – 11th Aug:

ALL WEEK:

Garden games in the park. FREE with an annual pass.

STORYTELLING: Monday 5th August, 11am & 2pm

A true story of a munitions worker in the second world war, read in the ARP Shed. FREE with an annual pass.

CRAFT ACTIVITY: Tuesday 6th August, 10.30am-12.30pm.

Make some Semaphore flags and a cypher wheel. FREE with an annual pass.

MUSEUM WEDNESDAY: Wednesday 7th August, 10am-3pm

With a ‘A ‘tractor’ theme, you will get to:

  • Play Tractor Top Trumps with our real tractors
  • Design your perfect tractor
LIVING HISTORY DAY: Thursday 8th August, 10am-3pm.

Meet the Evacuation Officer at the train station before taking a train ride along the track and back. Head to the museum to learn about the Land Girls and some objects from the war, as well as a make do and mend display with Glynnis and Tony. There will also be a dummy Homeguard rifle drill on the grassed area of the park. Optional; make a Morse code bracelet £2 per person (payable on the day).

CRAFT ACTIVITY 10th & 11th August

Living History Crafts – 10.30am-12.30pm each day

Choose from a number of history crafts:

  • Design your own body armour
  • Decorate and assemble a wooden medieval carriage
  • Decorate and assemble a wooden knight on a horse
  • Decorate and assemble a wooden castle

 

Crafts are £2 each with an annual pass

TRAINS: Sunday 11th August

The Derwent Valley Light Railway will be running passenger trains. FREE with an annual pass.

EVENT: Saturday 10th – Sunday 11th August

Enjoy a living history display of 15th century life during the Wars of the Roses with the Frei Compagnie. FREE with an annual pass.
