Throughout The Day

This year, Santa’s making a grand return to Murton Park, and oh boy, has he got some surprises up his red velvet sleeves!

We’re not just hanging a stocking and leaving out milk and cookies for Santa. No, we’re decking our halls with boughs of holly with a winter wonderland, shimmering bright. Ready your reindeer, because we’re about to rocket your festive joy to new heights.

(Christmas jumper optional, but strongly encouraged.)

Christmas at Murton Park

Your little ones will get the chance to hobnob with the big man himself (alongside other boys and girls). Maybe even negotiate their position on the naughty or nice list. And the best part? Santa’s even arranged for some special money that the kiddos can spend in our toy shop. Score!

But the fun doesn’t stop there. There’s a whole host of activities waiting to unfold. There’s wish-list writing and even a train ride (choo-choo!) on the Derwent Valley Light Railway…

THE 12 JOKES OF CHRISTMAS!

We’re excited to announce that Fladam Theatre will be your onboard entertainment at the Derwent Valley Light Railway this Christmas.

Join Fladam – best known for their award-nominated show ‘Green Fingers’ and spooky hit ‘Hallowbean’ – for a magical, musical, mini festive cracker about penguins Noel and Carol.

Noel and Carol will be taking their annual festive trip to Murton Park. Why, you may ask? They’re on a special mission – to deliver a new batch of jokes to the Christmas cracker factory!

(Did you know that cracker jokes are written exclusively by penguins? It’s true. Ask David Attenborough.)

But a mix-up with their luggage means (*dramatic music*) ALL THE JOKES HAVE BEEN LOST! Uh oh. There’ll be no laughs in York this Christmas if they can’t think of something quick! Maybe the other passengers can help?

But wait, we hear you ask, what about Mother Christmas? Fear not, she’s setting up shop in her ‘Bakehouse’ for a ‘cooking class where the only ingredients are your imagination, a sprinkling of singing and a generous helping of Elfercise! Then you’ll settle down for a seasonal story time with Mother Christmas’s magical take of a famous festive tale (with some Makaton signing thrown in for good measure).

And there’s more. We’re talking free reindeer food (because who can forget Rudolph?), crafts** for the kids, and for the grown-ups? Adults get a scrumptious mince pie, on the house!

All this festive frolicking is bound to work up an appetite. Not to worry, The Yorkshire Barn Café has got you covered. Whether you fancy a hearty breakfast, light meal, a quick snack, or just a calming drink and a slice of homemade cake, they’ve got it all.

So come on, step into Christmas and make some unforgettable memories at Murton Park.

Christmas is waiting!

Tickets are £10* per adult, £20* per child and £5* for 0-1 year olds and are available to book online only.
